“Fill your life with adventures, not things.”

Dive against debris

Even though it is not something I enjoy doing, coming home to a freshly cleaned house brings a sense of satisfaction. Usually you can’t blame anyone else that the ones living with you for messing up the place, but how would you feel if everyday people were unloading trash in your living room?

Early birds

Have you ever looked outside while open- ing the blinds of your bedroom and felt that the world has started the day with- out you? While you still have the wrinkles of the bedsheets imprinted on your cheek, some people had a secret existence ?

Worlds apart

« Storm right ahead » and this is our course. The teal and grey palette gives a metallic look to everything around. Not simply the raw aluminium boat, but also the dramatic pillowy blue grey clouds regularly slashed by lightening bolts, the dark blue sea and bright foamy splashes as the hull slit through the waves. Despite this threatening, un-welcoming look, this scenery feels me with serenity. I can see the concerns on some faces, and I know it sounds like a lack of common sense, but even if I can’t explain why, I find it all very peaceful.

Kyoto-shi

The so called land of the rising sun couldn’t hold his name better. I am lying on my futon bed, the jet lag is keeping me awake, I look at the light running through the heavy curtains illuminating the room of the ryokan. I start to know each and every corner of it. It is time. I am going for an early morning discovery of Kyoto.

Not time yet

I don’t know what John Muir had in mind when he wrote “The mountains are calling, I must go”, but I do know that being near the mountains creates in me an urgent will to meet them. I say meet them because it would be pretentious and wrong to pretend I know them. They are for me, like someone, with whom you have an unexplainable attraction, someone with a very complex personality, but someone that you enjoy getting to know better, and the more you discover, the more you want to spend time with Her.

No Need for Lullaby

Left, right, left, right. I am still rocking from side to side as if Mother Nature as been cradling me all night. My neighbours are already awake, I can hear them softly chirping around me, as I open my eyes, I discover the ornaments on the ceiling of our improvised bedroom, it seemed to just be black as we went to bed but the light blue morning sky reveals a large piece of dark green lacework gently undulating with the fresh breeze.

Terrils

When we think about trail running, we usually picture elite athletes running at a pace and across distances we can hardly think is humanly possible, usually following an iconic trail around Mont Blanc, across the Reunion island, or along the black and mysterious Scottish ridges of Glen Coe. But the beauty of trail running lies in the thousands of amateurs, putting on their gear to go out and explore their surroundings as often as possible, pushing their own limits, and creating their own adventures in their local environment.
